I believe the gzip command should be available to install into PASE via the OpenSource RPMs for IBM i. Would that suffice?

I have a dim memory about a rather old version of gzip (and the base library as a service program) have been ported to CPF. I don't think that the file format has changed, so even old versions should work for decompression.
