Hello Marc,

I did have another guy on this list who turned it off because he was in the same boat as you and their operators were too stupid or obstinate to type that in.
Would you mind sharing how to do that?

Apparently I've done that for a fresh 7.3 install, but not for the existing 7.2.

Does this one help?

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.2?topic=connection-enabling-console-takeover

Thanks! But: nope, sorry.

From SST, there is no "Work with DST environment." menu item. Looking at "8. Work with service tools user IDs and Devices" => "1. Service tools user IDs", qsecofr already has all privileges granted.

For the second part, "8. Work with service tools user IDs and Devices" => "3. Select console", "Allow console recovery and console can be taken over by another console" is already enabled.

Hence the short cut I can enjoy with 7.3 seems to really be a new feature of 7.3 (compared to 7.2), or the article doesn't match the topic about how to reduce the number of screens until console signon is possible.

:wq! PoC
