In the public name and address book,
Configuration, Configurations (not server documents)
The configuration document associated with our domino based smtp servers
all have
Router/SMTP tab
Basics subtab
Relay host for messages leaving the local internet domain:
In here we have two ip addresses, separated by a semicolon. These IP
addresses are the two Cisco message servers we use to check outbound emails
for nasties.
I can ping those IP addresses from IBM i.
Most internal devices relay through these Domino servers, then to the Cisco
stuff.
It's easier for me to whitelist stuff in Domino, like our
scanner/priinter/copiers, than it is to directly add whitelisting to the
Cisco sites for all this stuff.
For where to whitelist in Domino:
Same Configuration setting document.
Router/SMTP tab
Restrictions and Controls subtab
SMTP Inbound Controls sub subtab
I put the items I want whitelisted in both
"Exclude these connecting hosts from anti-relay checks:"
and
"Allow messages only from the following internet hosts to be sent to
external internet domains:"
not fully understanding the point of both of these. But it works.

I have a customer using Domino that uses a host name for email delivery.

The host name resolves to an internal IP address for their internal mail
server.

Now, their IBM i itself doesn't seem to be able to resolve the same host
name being used by Domino.

I am having them test with PING instead of an application to start with,
but I'm curious if Domino uses the same DNS settings in CFGTCP option 12 or
if that could be internal, or possibly even hardcoded in Domino somewhere.
