I think the i initiating FTP sessions would be straightforward: call
the customer/data warehouse, pull/push files, hang up, wait 20
minutes, try again. What I don't know is if each Starlink has a fixed
IP address: a non-static address could be a significant issue. Any
security based on the IP address would fail and I don't know how/if an
external user could get in.

All I need now is an i and a Starlink.

"I told that girl I could start right away
When she said, "Listen, babe, I got something to say
I got no car and it's breaking my heart
But I found a driver and that's a start."

Isn't there an Ethernet port coming out the back of the Starlink unit ?

I have a friend who has Starllink but I have not used it.

If there's an Ethernet then you're golden I would think.

subject: Putting an i on Starlink

Is there a network attachment/modem/IBM feature code/3rd party gadget that enables connecting an i to a Starlink base station? Ideally, this unit would be another TCP/IP connection.

As part of a business continuity plan, I'm thinking about running EDI through Starlink permanently. It's a couple of hundred 1-megabyte files throughout the day and there's no need for subsecond response time. "When"
the local wired Internet dies or you get hacked, EDI, payroll, bank deposits, and tech support remote access would be unaffected.

Thanks,
Reeve
