Last Friday, our "slim" 170 (the V4R4 box) failed to power up (or down) on schedule.

Going through your recommended troubleshooting list in the "Scheduler Problems" helptext:

Is the keylock switch . . . in the Normal or Auto position?

Hmm. Nobody at IBM has bothered to update that since V3! At any rate, the control panel shows the usual "01 B N"

Is the QSYSSCD job held?
Is the QSYSSCD job running or active?

Not held. It's active, in an event-wait.

Is . . . (STRCLNUP) . . . part of your startup
program?

The QSTRUP hasn't changed since 2021, but I checked anyway, and it's there.

Check the times specified.
Do you have times specified on the correct days?

That hasn't changed in years, either, and it's supposed to power up at 16:35 every Friday (if not already), and power down at 17:15 every Friday.

Do not schedule 2 power ons in a row an automatic power off between them > or the second power on may not work.

I don't think that's happened. And the automatic power off also failed last week. I will note that this was the first time I'd noticed that the box was still on DST, and I adjusted QHOUR while the box was up.

I scheduled a power-down for 10:00 today, so that I can follow Jim Oberholzer's suggestion on checking the clock in DST.
