I, however, have no idea what this reply is referring to - did someone mention searches in source files?

multiple source files. And when one developer has a program called OE123
in QRPGLESRC in LIBX and another has the same name in QRPGSRC (or QCLSRC)

With modern tools like RDi you can set up a filter to include all source
files in a library and subtype it by a prefix such as OE123*. This had the
