We're actually happier with HCL. They actually start using newer versions
of Java in a timely fashion. Back when IBM had it, IBM would drop a
version of Java with a new version of IBM i and it took IBM a year to come
out with a version of Domino that would use a newer version of Java and
would run on the latest version of IBM i.

We still use Domino but no longer for email. Just for Apps. We switched
from Domino email in an emergency fashion when IBM came out with Power 9's
and it took IBM MONTHS and months to get the lic patched to support Domino
in a stable fashion. ONLY time I've ever opened a "crit sit" with IBM.
Only when SAP started having the same issue with Power 9's did the
situation get resolved. This is a HUGE reason to ensure that your
test/sandbox machine is of the latest hardware. We learned that lesson the
hard way. I know that having the main production machine not be the latest
and greatest can be a grind on some.

We switched to O365 for email.

I have a client that really wants to run their mail server on the IBM-i.

I expect that they have their totally valid reasons.

For years they have been running Notes/Domino but since HCL took over, they
feel that there are more problems both with release quality and
specifically
with product support.

Are there other options? Experience with migration from Notes/Domino?
