Is that line that important?
It can be read one way if you're grasping at straws for a reason to
postpone going to the subscription model.
It can be read another if you're concerned that some environmental change
(ptf, media firmware update, etc) could break something and that be
considered a new defect and thus not covered.
Basically the same conversation we had about SDA, etc.
Or was there something else I missed? I do respect your opinion very much
Steve.

Rob,
You missed an important line from the announcement:

Starting 1 October 2025, IBM will provide usage and known defect support
and will no longer provide new defect support for the following programs:

* IBM Backup, Recovery and Media Services for i (BRMS, 5770-BR1)
non-expiring LPP. Customers can get standard support with BRMS Subscription
Term offering.

Subject: Must change from 5770-BR1 to 5770-BR2 (BRMS)

Backup Recovery and Media Services has announced End Of Marketing and End
Of Service for 5770-BR1. This is the perpetual license product. If you
want continued support you need to migrate to the subscription model,
5770-BR2.
