I don't have access to a Mac, but searching 'mac bom excel' gave me this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6588068/which-encoding-opens-csv-files-correctly-with-excel-on-both-mac-and-windows which is old but it advises using UTF-16LE and TAB delimited rather than comma delimited.
