I think the answer is almost certainly no.

And personally I don't want to see it happen.

Why? Because it would cost multiple millions of $s and there are so many things I would prefer to see IBM spend money on.

Perhaps some form of universal aliasing might come closer to meeting the cost/benefit mark.

system object name length to something longer?

This is one item on my wish list, and I could also consider including the
underscore character as a valid starting one for such names.
