Allan, Open source is about collaboration. And that is what git provides.
Github is a great place for that.

SourceForge is for freeware - that is also fine but that is a different
mindset.

And the argument about downloading a zip file - that is one button at
Github.

So thanks Allan for your work, and please put it on git so we can
elaborate and give you credit for your work, and let the community help to
make it perhaps even better.

I do not like your perception about IBM i developers and assume they would
not know how to use github. All the IBM i people I know love to embrace
modern and better technologies.

Let's make this great platform "normal" and do it the way that the rest of
the IT industry does it, so we are not considered strangers.

If Richard has no time to help you - I certainly will reach out a helping
hand to you!!

You can get inspired by some of my projects - and notice allt the feedback,
the issues tracking and who is collaborating on these projects.

My decision to put on SourceForge was deliberate. My assumption is that
most IBM i programmers would not know how to use Github and it would not
get downloaded. With Sourceforge you just click on the zip file and you
have it but that being said I would be very happy to host my open source
tools on GitHub and I notice that Sourceforge has a way to link a
Sourceforge project with a Github project. I would appreciate any help you
could give me on doing that Richard.

Yes! Please let Richard help to put it on github. It will become more
natural to participate with such a nice initiative

Lots of thumbs up!!

Hi Alan,

Looks interesting.

Thanks for the putting this out there. Can't wait to try it.

Just a curiosity question: Have you thought about hosting this on
GitHub
?

If you need help setting it up there I would be happy to provide
guidance
and I'm sure others would as well.

Not a big deal but just thought I'd throw it out there as a thought.

Regards,
Richard Schoen

subject: New Open Source Project-User Queues

I am pleased to announce a new open source project I call User Queues.

This project provides a set of tools to Create User Queues, Send and
Receive Messages from them and to display counts of messages in a given
User Queue.

User Queues are like Data Queues expect they are faster (Approx 30%)
and
easier to use (In my opinion). Depending on how the Data Queue is used
they
can be much much faster. Please see the read_me for more information.

The project can be downloaded at:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/userqueue/

Contact information is the Read_Me. Please contact me if you have
questions or suggestions for improvement.
