You can renew SWMA beyond that date but I'm not sure how that works for renewing hardware maintenance since they always want a year. Guessing they may take the 1 year renewal and then refund you the remaining amount when they terminate your contract.

We do hardware maintenance on Power8 machines and will continue to support it beyond IBM's EOS date. We also do cloud partitions which is another option.
