I responded to Jerry privately as I have his email from something I did on my blog for him.

I said I couldn't find anywhere in BRMS where those were omitted in the *SYSTEM control group.
I agree with Jim.

On Rob's response .... exactly right. On any full save, OMITS *IGNORE.
STRBKUBRM CTLGRP(WEEKLY) SBMJOB(*NO) OMITS(*IGNORE)

On the WRKCTKGBRM attributes, we always set ASYNCBRING (*YES)
Specifies whether objects should be asynchronously brought
into memory during the save processing. Depending on the
directory tree structure, the amount of memory available,
and the number of objects which qualify for the save,
asynchronously bringing the objects may improve save
performance.

The best performance improvement may be seen
with a well balanced directory tree in which all objects
qualify for the save. In situations where a large number
of objects reside in a single directory, few objects
qualify for the save, or the system is memory constrained,
performance may degrade with ASYNCBRING(*YES) specified.

That had to be added post installation. That?s not a default. Better reason to actually review the recovery reports on occasion.

?Whoops!

Doing a full system save with BRMS will omit critical IFS folders /QIBM and /QOPENSYS unless omit lists are *IGNORED.

We are doing a DR and are completely screwed by this situation.

Hard to believe but its true.

Yep, that's why we run:
STRBKUBRM CTLGRP(DTFULL) SBMJOB(*NO) OMITS(*IGNORE) You might want to check out:
WRKLBRM *BKU and especially the QLNKOMT entry shown therein.

In case some of you are wondering, this is unrelated to CHGATR ALWSAV(*NO).
