Thanks for your suggestion Rob.

The problem has been resolved by changing the command default on the SBMJOB to use CPYENVVAR(*YES)

The problem is I have no recollection of doing this on the 7.3 system and it was not documented in our change logs. That is very surprising as we document every change.

For now I am just going to presume it was changed at 7.3 as that is the only plausible answer.

I did a savsys before the upgrade to 7.4 but since 6.1 it is not possible to restore a command from a savsys! So there is no way to prove if the command default on the sbmjob command had been changed at 7.3

I opened a case with IBM and they suggested that the only way this would have worked at 7.3 was if the command default had been changed.

On a humerus side, I asked IBM if there was anyway to restore a command (sbmjob command) from a savsys to see what the command defaults were set to and the response ...

" No, you cannot restore a command from SAVSYS or Upgrade media since R610. What you can do is if you have another system at same release and ptf level, run SAVOBJ on the SBMJOB command to a SAVF and FTP over to this system and restore. That is the only option I can see you have."

I'm sure some support people just DO NOT READ the ticket comments!!

Cheers

Don

Well, it runs interactively so I "assume" that it is not dependent on Java 7, which died with 7.3.

Can you put this in the job as a debug measure?
create table mylib.debug as (
select * from qsys2.ENVIRONMENT_VARIABLE_INFO) with data; Then check that out.

No, there isn't an output(*print) option on WRKENVVAR.
