Hi John --

I tested it, and indeed it works to copy a macro to a new machine.

I then submitted an Idea on the portal that iACS macros should encrypt
passwords with reference to some hardware factor on the originating
workstation.
They responded almost immediately:

Thank you for submitting your Idea to enhance IBM i Access Client Solutions
(ACS). Restricting the macro to the workstation where it was recorded may
accomplish your request, but may also unnecessarily restrict the author?s
intent of using the macro across multiple workstations. Security is a
shared responsibility between IBM and the customer. In this case, IBM?s
part was encrypting the password. The customer?s part is securing the macro
so it cannot fall into the wrong hands. If the customer is not able to
mitigate the risks of recording a macro that contains a password, then they
should start the recording after the user logs in. This idea is being
declined.

I think we should not talk anymore publicly about this sort of thing :)
Thanks for writing privately.

Jack
