This would expand the list of to search objects but not help in any way: Find operates recursive through subdirectories by default.
if you would like to remove all files from that location, then:
del '/var/tmp/*'
Did you actually try that? Where/How? Del is AFAIK a MS-DOS/Windows, and ftp command.
