Rob,

Thanks for the hint. I was able to do what you suggested. I guess the only question is do I want to assign a key combination for each of the accented characters and then propagate that keyboard mapping to the appropriate users. Is there a better way to do this?

In iACS you go into Keyboard mapping, Key Assignment and there it is. Roll
past the hex stuff and I saw several E's all wearing funny hats. You can
assign your own key combination for them.

The simple answer is nothing. CCSID 37 should be a full Latin-1 character
set which includes the majority of normal accented characters such as à.

Have you tried storing such characters in regular char fields? We do it
all the time.
