I have used the CERN web server in the AS/400, it was well before the
21first century.

I believe you are mistakenly assuming that just because TCP/IP was
available, that the AS/400 also had a web server.

True: I'm assuming. I pass on — probably blurry — memory from another
person here. That's why I seek some input from others. So, thanks for
contributing! :-)

I don't recall my first AS/400, a RISC box running v3r6 as having a web
server available.

I think v3r7 (RISC) v3r2 (CISC) was where Apache was added as part of
the TCP/IP Connectivity Utilities/400.

It's well-known that V3R6 was the functional equivalent to V3R1. The
former for RISC, the latter for CISC. I'm running V3R2 on my P03 and this
definitely has the IBM web server. I have no machine with V3R1 to check.

Also, your claim about the web server's addition with V3R7/V3R2 is
supported by SG24-4815-01 (Cool Title About the AS/400 and Internet) from
1996. Unfortunately no longer available officially from IBM.

I don't have the TCP/IP utilities LPP for V2R3 — probably the last release
without IFS — to see what's inside.

Also, SG24-4815-01 mentions 3rd party software for TCP/IP, including a web
server, predating the offer from IBM.

In any case, the interesting point was "WTF, HTML pages from the IFS?
How?". ;-)

Think the IFS was added there also.

Yes, the IFS was introduced with V3R1, according to my sources. I don't
know if V3R0M5 already had IFS, being said to be a "bastard" release with
V3 LIC and V2 "CPF".
