Re: Comparing Two Copies of a Physical File

I need to compare the results of two different programs, as stored in the
same physical file. I have saved copies of both iterations, but am trying
to figure out how to do a field level comparison based on a keyed record
join.

I'm trying to avoid an SQL with a select based on differences between
fields in the two files because there are 54 fields in the format.

TAATOOLs has a CMPDBF command, but it's an E1 file with null value
fields. In the case of nulls, I would want no comparison if both versions
of the field in question have null values.

Z/OS has a compare utility, but I can't find a match on the i. CMPPFM
won't work because the files are way too large.

Is there a way to do this without a massive SQL statement comparing at the
field level with 50 fields to compare for possible differences?
