I'll give you a sample. None of the physicals in the ERP package we use
have a key. A vast majority of the logical files in the ERP package we use
are of the format where they:
- List every column in the physical
- List the keys
- Select only 'active' records
For example:
K IPROD
S IID COMP(EQ 'IM')
Now, specifically for this case, IBM has extended indexes to support this.
They do support a where clause on CREATE INDEX like this:
CREATE index qtemp/IIML01
on erplxf/iim
(IPROD ASC)
WHERE
IID = 'IM'
RCDFMT IPI100IM ADD
COLUMN1,
COLUMN2,
...
