Hi Greg

Global variables are a great thing in ACS/RSS. But, as others also have mentioned, with the latest ACS, we don't need to create variables anymore. We can now directly use host variables like :FDATE or just a parameter marker such as ? - when you run the statement, a window pops up where we can enter a value for each one. Even more, after the statement runs, the Messages tab has the values listed that you entered. Very cool stuff from the I-Team!!

You can even just make "host" variables in RSS - they don't have to come from some embedded SQL in RPG source. Lovin'it!!

I did run into a statement where I had to use a global variable - it was a pretty honkin' big statement! I had to check the version of ACS - it said 1.1.9.2 - so maybe i'll open a ticket on that one.

I have done it by doing the following:

Create Or Replace Variable @FDATE Integer Default 20220101;
Create Or Replace Variable @TDATE Integer Default 20230430;

Select * from mytable where mydate between @FDATE and @TDATE;

Drop Variable @FDATE;
Drop Variable @TDATE;

Thanks,

Hi all

Suppose i have this Sql statement :

select * from mytable where mydate between 20230101 and 20230430

is it possibile define some variables (in ACS Script Sql) and substite the
date with the variable defined ?

example

set date01 = 20230101

set date02 = 20230430
