For the last 10 years (Power8 to Power10)
We have used a simple Ethernet cable (not crossed) for our Lan Console

Console

Not sure. I normally go through a switch.
I notice that consultants will often have a simple switch not much bigger
than a deck of cards or two for testing and setup. Maybe something like
this will work.
Going through a switch may also allow you to set it up so the lan console
can be used remotely.

Look at the section "To connect the Ethernet cable or Operations
Console serial cable" at:

Which says,
If you are using a LAN connection, attach an Ethernet cable from the
PC to the LAN, and another Ethernet cable from the LAN to the top
Ethernet port on the server (labeled T1).

Hmm. And if I'm not going through a switch or other hub, I probably need
a crossover cable, right?
