Basically I fully agree - but as the Apache proxy server grabs the content_type header in the request it could eventually been possible to use that instead of an ipaddress or a hostname in a reverse proxy configuration.

This is not an IBM i specific topic. Maybe you can get some more information by looking at the extensive Apache documentation? It's amazing what can be done!
