I like the idea of a device friendly version, however I wonder if the entire site really needs it. Consider asking for specific items to cut down the effort needed. For instance: looking at critical messages on QSYSOPR/QSYSMSG and security breaches.

The other issue is VPN. While you use Android which is somewhat easier to set VPN up for, many use iPhone/iPad where it's not as simple. I am NOT suggesting punching a hole for it, but that will limit the audience to about 1/2 of the admin folks out there (based on current USA usage)

The real problem of course will be Java. Getting that on some devices is either impossible or more tricky than it might be. If it's all server side only fine, but still an issue to consider.

I am able to get the New Navigator working on a mobile client (Samsung Android type). If using it within my network just point to the same URL. If using outside I have to fire up my VPN client first.
I did submit an "idea" that they tailor the web browser for mobile clients though.
