And that is EXACTLY why IBM should have handled this better.

Making things too complicated often makes them less secure.

Yea, that's most likely true.  It has to do with the update process.  It
just deletes QMGTOOS library and restores it.  Simple easy fast, except
for your notable objection.  Maybe we can encourage IBM to change the
user profile and password storage to a user space or something that's in
QGPL, or QUSRSYS, or the IFS somewhere?  That would make it somewhat
more tolerable to update it as often as we need to.   Since updates go
into the tools quite regularly it's always a good idea to get the latest
one when needed.
