One should be aware that DNS is (mostly, there are exceptions) still an udp based service. This means the IP stack might happily send out DNS requests and wait for an answer, not knowing if there is "an other side". Depending on the DMNSVRRTY parameters on the CHGTCPDMN screen there might be a good portion of delay until a name resolution succeeds.
The ability to add multiple DNS server IP addresses should be seen as a last measure, not as something useful for everyday's use.
