I've never used the QCMDEXEC function in SQL - now that I'm retired... never will, I guess.

At my last employer, I really did miss the RUNCMD feature from HelpSystems SEQUEL product. I used that extensively.

Just one of the days I'm looking at SQL services - the ifs_read table
function with a locate() function was very easy - it did require a path,
of course, and I thought it'd be interesting to see if I could feed that
path using another SQL services - ifs_object_statistics is also very
handy - now to "pipe" (see, I know the terms!!) the output to ifs_read.

I had another interesting when this didn't work - maybe JOIN
ifs_object_statistics with the QCMDEXC function - and use qshell with
grep as the command being executed there. I don't need details on the
contents, only that it is in there.

Of course, RDi could come to the rescue, too - another thing to explore.

I have XML files in a folder, I want to see which ones have a certain value in them, such as an account code. I tried ifs_object_statistics with start_path_name ==> set, joined to ifs_read, the path_name from ifs_object_statistics in path_name ==>.

hope that makes sense, I get an error that says the value of start_path_name in not a valid file, maybe someone can give an idea or alternative
