I was actually looking for something that could be done from a native command line, and wouldn't require installing *anything.*

I've determined that a simple ping to our server will determine whether it can resolve the domain. And most of the other stuff, like ZLIB, and like "zip" and "unzip" for certain situations that exceed ZLIB's capacity, are easy enough to install.

The real question is whether there's an easy way to determine, from a command line, whether the box has the prerequisites for HTTPAPI to access an HTTPS-only web site. And reading over the section of the HTTPAPI Readme that deals with this, I get the feeling it might be a little bit dated.
