Curiously if the IOP is for an iSCSI Virtual Tape you CAN IPL the IOP from SQL.

So your idea is a good one!

Larry, i put in a "idea" to allow for the re-ipl of the VTL IOA to be done at the command line.
we've had to do the same for Protect Tier and data domain.

cannot figure out the new interface to find a direct link, but search for:  IBMI-I-1048 https://ideas.ibm.com/

Same really, just go into SST and under concurrent maintenance restart the virtual IOP. We do this routinely to get Cybernetics VTLs talking to the system again.

Back when we had a physical card, like a scsi tape card for example, and we just wanted to reboot a card I knew how to go into SST and reboot that card.
Now let's say we have a FC card that's dedicated to a lpar of VIOS and that is hosted to a few lpars of IBM i.  This FC is just for tape and not disk.
Is there a way to reboot that card without rebooting vios and then all lpars of IBM i?
