I am only trying to get IBM i into the thread so that in the future when someone has this question and they approach the google or the duckduck or any other search engine with the question: "How can I tell when the JVM was updated on IBM i?" that the search engine will be able to find this thread.

It's unlikely that in the future that some new administrator would think to search for "How can I tell when the JVM was updated on a midrange box."

Yes I am aware that this is the 'midrange mailing list' and has been that way since its inception, but the specific post is for IBM i. For someone who doesn't know about this list they might look at their server and see "Power System." They might look at the operating system and see "IBM i." They would use these items in a search engine. There is no chance they would think to use "Midrange." (Or for that matter any of the other names the system hasn't had for well over a decade or more.) The name 'midrange' has never been used by IBM nor will it ever be. It is only slang used by many who are already in the know.

I hear all the time: "Google doesn't know how to find IBM i." Which is flatly wrong as it works out. What it doesn't know is how to find "IBM i" in the word "Midrange"

* * We help ourselves AND others by using the names IBM has given the platform and the O/S. This is but one of the reasons to use the correct names for our amazing platform. * *

Some (who are old) may remember that long long ago, on this very list I used to say "Windoze." Why? Because it's kinda funny and at the time I was having many lockups as if it went to sleep. But I was rightly chastised for using that name, and for the same reason: future admins looking for answers would knot no to search for Windoze they would instead search for Windows. And so I changed immediately, because they were correct.

Class dismissed.

Larry,
I think you need a cup of coffee.
I interpreted James' question as "something stopped working and I suspect a JVM upgrade was put on their IBM i and I am trying to determine when that JVM upgrade occurred".
JVM = Java Virtual Machine
