The simplest thing is to sign on with any profile that has equavalent special authorities, *ALLOBJ and *SECADM at a minimum and then change QSECOFR password with CHGUSRPRF. Once that's corrected then sign on as QSECOFR and change the QSECOFR Service tools Password back to QSECOFR by using the command CHGDSTPWD *DEFAULT. You must be signed on as user QSECOFR to use that command.

How do I reset the as400's security officer's password without knowing the

A client's sys admin/programmer passed away without leaving any
documentation regarding QSECOFR's password.

There is also no documentation regarding the QSECOFR service tools user ID
or password.

We now need to replace the disk controller; to do so we apparently need the
QSECOFR's password and the QSECOFR service tools user ID and password. Or
the ability to reset them to a known value.

Can anyone offer any guidance regarding the issue?
