Hi Richard

At least since V5R2, the CHGPF command lets you specify a source member that has the changes, the data will be copied, changes made, then data copied back - at least, that's the effect.

If DDL with SQL, ALTER TABLE gives some options - deleting, changing, and adding columns can be done - adding has to be at the end, IIRC.

Cheers
Vern

The answer to your question is tape recording number 26
It depends
First - what release are you on? If you are on an extremely old (decades) release, you may have no choice
What change are you doing?
Adding one or more new fields?
Changing an existing field - if so - from what to what

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Deploying DB2 Table Changes

Hey all looking for best way to auto deploy database table updates on Ibmi. Usually you move or rename the table, create new table and then copy data back to new table, but it is rather manual,

Thoughts welcome.
