Coincidence or not?
The 7.3 TR5 announcement letter at https://www.ibm.com/common/ssi/ShowDoc.wss?docURL=/common/ssi/rep_ca/2/897/ENUS218-362/index.html&request_locale=en
had these lines:
Planning information
IBM i 7.3 is the last release to support IBM POWER7 or IBM POWER7 + processor-based systems.

The 7.4 TR5 announcement letter at https://www.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=an&subtype=ca&appname=gpateam&supplier=877&letternum=ENUSZP21-0184
had the Planning information section but did not have the line about IBM i 7.4 being the last release to support Power 8 systems but the timing matched.

Hmm, does that make the tea leaves say that rNext TR5 will have the announcement for P9's? That's still a few years off but just something to tuck into the memory vault.
