We don't do it here, but at the previous shop, we set QINACTMSGQ to point to a message queue. There was a program monitoring the message queue and making decisions based to user and time of day. There are some tools out there for that, or you could just roll your own. I wasn't involved with the sysopr portion of the machine as much in that shop. I know we were using a purchased solution, but no idea what it was or who made it.

I have a question for the group about the use of the QINACTITV and QDSCJOBITV system values. We've recently changed our QINACTITV value down from 5 hours to 2 hours. This has helped a lot with job locks and that sort of thing. However, we have someone in the IT department who often has 3 or 4 sessions running for longer than the QINACTITV time period, and of course keeps having her sessions ended when she's right in the middle of something. I've looked into what our options for her might be, and I'm not really sure that we have any. It appears that QDSCJOBITV can be used here (right now the value on our system for this is 10 minutes), but from what I'm reading the disconnected job still retains its file locks and such (which is part of the reason we reduced the QINACTITV value to begin with). Anyone out there know of any sort of workaround where we can say "yeah, boot these folks off after two hours, with these exceptions"? Any info is, as always, most appreciated.
