QDLS uses the old DOS naming conventions, meaning a folder can never be more than 8 characters long, pretty sure it also must be upper case.
Check the folder name you're trying to create to be sure it conforms to that limitation.
In addition to the folder permissions, also check the share permissions to ensure the share itself allows write, the default for shares is read only.
