I have a service program that gets the information by sending a message up

Hi Timothy
I believe you are asking how trigger programs work
You may want to google the phrase
AS400 trigger programs
There are quite a few web pages as well as videos
However - the following pdf has a chapter on trigger programs, including
an example

Subject: [EXTERNAL] What evokes my trigger program

Hi, From a RPG program, I am in need to know the variable for what
process(program or entity of any kind) evokes a Trigger program.
It does not seem to be part of the parameter list passed to the program.
