Hi Alan,

So you're doing something like this?

ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_QSH_CMD_OUTPUT) REPLACE(*YES) VALUE('FILEAPPEND=/home/scott_is_a_weenie/sftp_log.txt')

Notice the word 'FILEAPPEND'.   If you replace it with 'FILE' it'll replace the file each time.

Hi Scott
It is dealing with using QShell's
ability to log its output to a file?
You said that you can specify to tell it to
replace the data vs. append the data.
How would that be accomplished?

I'm still not clear on whether you're doing this in a program or
interactive. And, by "the log" do you mean you are using QShell's
ability to log its output to a file? Or are you generating a log in
another way?

The QShell envvar has a directive that you can specify to tell it to
replace the data vs. append the data.

If you do want to do it yourself, is there any reason not to just delete
the log when you're done with it? (Or move it to an archive location?)

Hi Scott
It’s the log for sftp’ing data to a particular company
We have not been successful – and the log was just appending the latest dump into the SFTP log in the ifs
The log was just becoming unwieldy
Hence my request – to clear the SFTP log so that the latest data will be in the log by itself
