Could you expand on what you wrote with some sort of examples

Sorry - for those of us not sure what you are talking about - not so easy

Forget the 5250 emulator for this.

It's ok to have shares on the IBM i, if done right.--
First rule, never share the root.
If the application will work if the share is read only, then make it read
only.
Set the authority correctly on the directory the share is built over.

Subject: Has anyone created a PDF and then immediately displayed it on the
screen?
CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not

the content is safe.
I have created PDF files in the IFS and then used ACS to display the PDF.
All is good.
What I do is create the spool file and CPYSPLF to a *STMF file in the IFS.
So far so good.
Problem: for security reasons, the staff in the plant are not given access
to ACS other than the 5250 emulation. I need to be able to get the PDF to
automagically open the PDF and display it on the screen for the user to
work with.
I have not found a way to do this.
I tried the STRPCCMD with the dos command START but that command will only
run a command on the PC. It will not run against the IFS unless I share the
folder on the IFS and run the START against the IFS share. For security
reasons, we do not want to share the IFS folder. We have up to 200 users
and the security team are concerned about the security of the IFS.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem I have?
TIA, Darryl Freinkel.
