This is what needs done on our system. However I have no idea where to begin.

Mainly concerned about step #2 below... how to even implement that.

For right now, we have the FTP server off.

To protect the database from changes outside of the application I have done
the following:

1. Change the authority for the database to exclusive for the profile
that owns the application.
2. Set the application programs to adopt user authority and owned by
application owner profile.
3. Allow application users access to user application programs.
4. Block other object access for users.


This way you also prevent anybody from doing any weird stuff using ODBC or
other access methods.
