Just recently ran across this tip:

1. CHGPF FILE(FILE1) WAITRCD(*IMMED)

2. see PSDS in your RPG PGM

D PSDS sds
D CPFMSG 40 46
D MSGTEXT 91 170

KEY chain FILE1 2020
if *IN20 = *ON
LCK_USER = %subst(MSGTEXT:46:%scan('/':MSGTEXT:47)-46) ;
LCK_JOB = %subst(MSGTEXT:%scan('/':MSGTEXT:47)+1:10) ;

subject: API to show record locks?

Just need a confirmation.

I have a job that may on occasion get a record lock error in a very
heavily used interactive program that is used to make appointments with
customers, constantly hitting on a certain file.

I found the? API "QDBRJBRL" and wanted to confirm that will give me the
qualified job-IDs(at least) for the job that has the record lock on the
record "my job" is trying to read.

An alternative would be an SQL file statement that would return that
information. (I prefer that actually).

Thanks, Alan
