Rob,

I didn't do one recently, but I remember having some issues with the getupgfiles.
Below are my notes from Dec 2020.

HMC code update to new version,
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6371902
downloaded from a different site using getupgiles using a putty session on the HMC.
This download can take 2 hours, be patient.

hscroot@hmcwho:~> getupgfiles -h public.dhe.ibm.com -u anonymous --passwd anonymous -d /software/server/hmc/network/v950/ppc
Fetching network installation images../
Using a 2nd putty session, you can monitor the download with
while true; do ls -l /dump/efix ; sleep 30; done
total 0

Set the HMC to do the next reboot from the special location on the hard drive where the downloaded V9 files are stored by typing the following command:
chhmc -c altdiskboot -s enable --mode upgrade

Reboot the HMC

Paul

Y'all know I recently had another thread on midrange-l about getupgfiles.
Trying it again today and I am getting a different error:
hscroot@HMCUSSI:~> getupgfiles -h public.dhe.ibm.com -u anonymous --passwd anonymous -d /software/server/hmc/network/v950/x86
Fetching network installation images...
Cannot contact server to obtain files.

I can ping public.dhe.ibm.com from the hmc.

Didn't know if the following was related in any way.
