I have a Epson inkjet, and Epson dot-matrix, and an old HP 600 DeskJet
running as ACS printer sessions. Will you provide us with an image of your
configuration screens?

Thanks Rob. I used to have an aging HP Laser Jet attached to this PC but it
rolled over and died. It was attached as an ACS printer session. I'm
hoping to get the Canon unit working in much the same way. I've run out of
time today, but I'm hoping to work on this some time tomorrow.

Thanks for these suggestions!

Rich

Rich,
I think there's some confusion here. No blame for anyone. It's just that so
few of us use ACS printer sessions anymore. Instead we hook the printers up
directly to the lan and configure either remote writers or remote output
queues. I suspect that was what the previous reply was thinking.

Have you been able to get any printer to configure as an iACS printer
session? Or is it just this model? Or is this the first one you've tried as
an iACS printer session?

The general steps are at
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-access-client-solutions-acs-configur
ing-printer-session

If all else fails there are a couple of other options.

I would ensure that you have the following on your system (it's free):
Resource
ID Option Feature Description
5770TS1 *BASE 5050 IBM Transform Services for i
5770TS1 *BASE 2924 IBM Transform Services for i

Then you have a couple of options:

One: Have the program print to pdf
CHGVAR &QP1ARCY ('/tmp/' *tcat &SysName *tcat '_QP1ARCY.PDF') OVRPRTF
FILE(QP1ARCY) DEVTYPE(*AFPDS) TOSTMF(&QP1ARCY) WSCST(*PDF) Download the pdf
and print that.

Two: Use iACS Printer Output option to find the spool file and download it
as a pdf and then print that.

Afraid I don't see where that is an option. I configure ACS sessions
very infrequently.

Is there any magic that is needed to get this printer working from an ACS
session? Not having much luck so far with trial and error.
