On our weekly fullsys we have *LINK. We used QALLUSRLNK for a while on the daily backups, but have since cut it down to directories that see significant change on a day to day basis. If it is a full save then I would go for *LINK. If you save system and user data separately, then maybe add QIBMLINK to the system save and use QALLUSRLNK for the user data.

Reviewing BRMS save strategy.

Years back, IBM suggested using QALLUSRLNK vs *LINK.

QALLUSRLNK saves /*, but omits the system IFS data directories.

These omits include

/QIBM/ProdData

/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData

At the time, this made sense and shortened the save a bit.

But from a recovery standpoint, probably not good, as these directories would be missed.

I'm thinking of switching back to *LINK.

What are others in the group using?

Any thoughts from the group?

Thank You
