You still need to apply groups/cumulative etc, but if you get a resave
you'll avoid a whole host of issues applying TRs. Rob has documented much
of this in the past. Bottom line, use the latest LIC first and you'll avoid
a fair amount of "fun" (read: anguish) during the group apply.

If the LIC on the system is old, then you can SLIP it into newer code, then
apply the last set of groups.

The resaves are only as of a particular time. You should still apply a cume
and the groups.

You should be able to get the resave this way. See this image:

Yeah, trying that now. But, it's still the original v7r3, not a resave.
So, if a do a reinstall, I'll still have to download the latest cume and
apply that. The cume is what I've had trouble with. Can't get it to apply.
Here's what IBM says about Resaves: "Resaves are created by PTFs being
permanently applied and new install media is created. Each Resave goes
through significant install and regression testing to ensure optimal system
quality."

That's what I've been hoping to get.

I don't think you can get the DVDs free anymore, you are supposed to
download them and burn your own. (or just use an image catalog which
is superior in many ways)

You might need to have a current version of Java that has the ability
to run download director.

If all you need is the LIC (I_BASE_01_License......) you could also
use the HTTP download (what I normally do since my desktop hates
download director)

Yeah. I can get it to allow just one at a time.

What I'm really trying to to is order a resave of v7r3 on DVD, which
became available a few weeks ago...

*Resave release date^1 * *Description* *5770-999
Resave Level Marker PTF* *5770-SS1
Resave Level Marker PTF*
04/16/2021 IBM i 7.3 TR10 GA - Support for POWER9 features announced on

13 April 2021. RS 730-N
RE21061 RS 730-10
AP19143

Any suggestions on that? I can't find any online directions to do so.
I was hoping I could select all my entitled software, then select a DVD
delivery.
Did that a long time ago.

Best Regards,

Thomas Garvey

I was able to get the V7R4 LIC with no problem.

Sometimes I forget to select the specific item and get goofy errors
that don't seem to relate. When I adjust the selection it will work.
