I'm not the one deciding. If it was up to me I'd rather "do it right". But the workload to do that is massive with little or no payback and I can understand the customer's reluctance to go that route.

When you migrate apps from one platform to another this kind of compromise is often essential. In this case it most certainly is. I doubt if we would have any disagreement if we were talking new apps - but we're not. We're trying to potentially introduce some service programs to avoid dynamic calls to existing I/O routines. The routing portion of the app (a package) is not changeable and is stuck in OPM. That kinda limits the options.
