An alternative is to get a physical tape library with a pot full of slots and have those duplicated there as an "air gap" against ransomware attacks. Once we loaded them up we'd never physically lay hands on them until they started to go bad or we upgrade to newer media types (ie LTO7 to LTOx).
There's less than a half dozen tapes with permanent data on them. Other than those the rest expire no more than about 377 days.
We'd stick with newer media as migrating media is a time consuming labor intensive job and both data centers are a bit of a drive. Newer media is more expensive, by far.
