Subject: Replacing a mirrored drive in VIOS

I followed the steps at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/632411
The IBM hardware guy then pulled out the old drive (hdisk0) and stuck the new one in.

I'm trying to follow the instructions at: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/670119
However the drive does not show up in lspv -free

These are my steps from the second site, along with some other internet hints.
$ oem_setup_env

# lsdev | grep hdisk
hdisk0 Available 00-00-00 SAS RAID 0 Disk Array
hdisk1 Available 00-00-00 SAS RAID 0 Disk Array
hdisk2 Defined 03-00-02 Other FC SCSI Disk Drive
hdisk3 Defined 03-00-02 Other FC SCSI Disk Drive

# exit

$ lsvg -pv rootvg
rootvg:
PV_NAME PV STATE TOTAL PPs FREE PPs FREE DISTRIBUTION
hdisk1 active 528 464 105..102..46..105..106

$ lspv -free
returns nothing.

$ oem_setup_env

# lspv
hdisk0 00f944051d270447 None
hdisk1 00f944052033cccb rootvg active

# lspath
Available pdisk0 sas0
Available pdisk1 sas0
Failed hdisk0 sas0
Enabled hdisk1 sas0
