Thanks Rob - I've done that in the past but I just want a third party to do it. In oder for this approach to work I have to have another system of my own running 24/7 and I'm really not interested in going to that much trouble if I can get another service cheap or for free.

Brad's sounds like it is worth a look - Jacl's looks as if it is going to be expensive as it does wayyyy more than I need.

Jon,
We have test pages. So if I go to https://mywebsite/test I should get back a particular string.
Knowing that, it was quite simple to write something to consume that website like the following sample. Change the VALUES into a select into and that should hold your return string. I think, knowing what you do, I can spare you the details. If it fails I then email appropriate people. Even our Domino developers are connecting into IBM i sometimes just to use this function. It's just crazy simple.

Subject: Web Monitoring Service

CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.

Just been notified by Monitis that our web monitoring service with them will not be renewed after it expires in a month or so.

I can of course switch to the company that bought them but since that means setting up a whole new account etc. I thought I'd see what others were using.

We need monitoring of 3 different web sites and would prefer to have monitoring done from at least European and USA sources (which is what we have now).

Anyone got any recommendations on reasonably priced (or free) services?
