Several years ago I worked with the CPF1164 (and CPF1124) data to get some of that information. At the time I used the various QHST* tables that held everything.

I would think you should be able to set up a data structure based on the docs, then put the msgdta value in there - now i don't remember exactly, but it should match the MSGDTA definition, as Mark said.

If you are at 7.4, there is a new function called INTERPRET that is supposed to be able to return, say, an integer value from the 4-byte string - those strings are in various places in MESSAGE_TOKENS. We are still at 7.3 but I have access to a 7.4 box, might give it a try tonight.

But the DS approach should work.
