Check out the 7zip commands delivered with Open Source Package Management.

There may be an option with that.

subject: Problem with compressing a number of pdf's into a zip file

Hi everyone,
We are on V7r3

We have a number of pdf's located in an ifs directory, specified in the following manner /directory1/sub-directory2/sub-directory3/subdirectory4/subdirectory5/*.pdf

I have tried using the command CPYTOARCF as well as the QSH jar command The zip file is created, but when we transmit the zip file to another system, they have problems because of the number of directories/sub-direcories Is there a way to compress the pdf's WITHOUT capturing the directory information - just all the pdf's

The jar command is
STRQSH CMD('jar cfM /directory1/sub-directory2/sub-directory3/sub-directory4/sub-directoryZ/20210216_141530_BOL.zip /directory1/sub-directory2/sub-directory3/subdirectory4/subdirectory5/*.pdf')

The COPYTOARCF command is
CPYTOARCF FROMFILE('/directory1/sub-directory2/sub-directory3/subdirectory4/subdirectory5/') TOARCF('/directory1/sub-directory2/sub-directory3/sub-directory4/sub-directoryZ/20210216_141530_BOL.zip')

I hope that this makes sense
As always - all answers gratefully accepted
